Qualification- 

1. Position: Scientific Officer,Applied Mathematics (Climate Services), Wca

2. Qualifications: M.Sc in applied mathematics, computer science, or agricultural/environmental sciences Strong computational background (working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning) Experience with the context of African smallholder agriculture and business development services are advantages. Superior communication capacity with English and French proficiency required Leadership and listening skills, and a results-oriented personality. Interest and ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams. Willingness to lead a small team of agricultural technicians and machine learning interns. Willingness to travel as per needs of the job and work extra hours in challenging field conditions.

3. Responsibilities:  Strengthen, through agro-climatic analyses and machine intelligence, the science basis supporting the development and provision of climate risk control and agricultural insurance services for African stakeholders, Organize field interactions with smallholder farmers and agricultural value chain stakeholders (agro-industries, banks, insurance, input supply, extension services) for the effective development of climate risk control solutions based on market demand, Strengthen the capacity of national partners in the use of new tools for climate risk analytics, including gridded yield forecasts, digital and mobile2web platforms, IoT devices, Earth Observation Assist the project leader in communicating CASCAID research results within ICRISAT, CCAFS and to external audiences, including the preparation of peer-reviewed and public awareness material Be willing to support the structuration of inclusive smallholder value chains through the training of youth in risk control solutions.
