SCIENTIFIC OFFICER – WORLD VEGETABLE CENTER







ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Scientific Officer to conduct vegetable research and extension services to implement its vegetable improvement program in the states of Jharkhand. The position will be based at Deoghar, Jharkhand, India. This position is open for Indian nationals only.

The Job:         
  • Coordinate all project field activities in the assigned district areas
  • Provide technical assistance and supervisory support to farming communities engaged in the implementation of project activities
  • Conduct field trials, pilot and demonstration activities in the designated district areas;
  • Collect data, conduct analyses and maintain records of all activities undertaken under the project;
  • Prepare inputs for technical and project reports and publications as requested by the Project Manager;
  • Organize and coordinate trainings for farming communities and local partner agencies;
  • Assist in developing training extension documents, materials and programs in coordination with project team members
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic progress reports, technical papers and presentations for meetings and annual reports as needed for donors, project beneficiaries, and team members;
  • Provide project administrative support such as procurement, payments and maintaining accounts in accordance with the policies and regulations of the World Vegetable Center
 Competencies:
  •  Good working knowledge of agriculture especially vegetable cultivation in the respective state;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi;
  • Proficiency in the use of various software applications (MS Word, MS Excel) and exposure to handling variety evaluation trials;
  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality with an urge to improve agricultural systems;
  • Strong team player and willing to work as part of an extended team comprising several agencies.
Requirements:
Master degree in Agriculture/Horticulture and at least 2 years’ working experience in projects related to vegetables.
General: 
This is a consolidated position for one year, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the institute’s continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
